Lila Walker

Lila Kaye Walker, 75, of Ovid, MI, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Sparrow Health Systems Sparrow Campus, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 13, 2016, with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Burial will take place at Union Home Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel.

Lila was born in Westmoreland, Kansas on July 7, 1941, the daughter of Frank and Helen (Hasenbank) Kanode. Lila moved to California after graduation where she obtained her beautician's license and worked for an insurance agency. She then moved to Michigan and married Richard Walker on May 20, 1988 in Clinton County. She babysat for many children, worked at Dean's Deli in Ovid and she retired from Walmart in St. Johns. Lila enjoyed sewing, painting and traveling with her family.

Lila is survived by her husband Richard Walker, step daughters; Renia and Jerry Metters, Threasa and Marty Goodwin, Angela Bowman, Christina Walker, 6 grandchildren; Tyler, Marty IV, Kyle, McKynzie, Mariah, Karissa, 2 brothers; Dale and Virginia Kanode, of CA, Verlan and Bonnie Kanode of KS and her dog Sassy.She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brother and 1 sister.
