Linda Kaye (Leahy) Roberson

St. Louis

     Linda Kaye Roberson, age 81, of St. Louis, MI, passed away after a long battle with dementia Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Arbor Grove Assisted Living, Alma, MI.

     Funeral Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, St. Louis, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 8, 2023, with Pastor Terri Bentley and Pastor Billie Lou Gillespie officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI.

     Linda was born in St. Louis, Michigan on August 21, 1942, the daughter of Bernard Richard and Irene Frances (Smith) Leahy. She graduated from St. Louis High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1960, and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education from Central Michigan University in 1964.

     Linda taught Math at Shepherd High School for thirty years, retiring in 1998. She was also a member of St. Louis Library Board and was a member of the Selection Community for Gratiot Community Foundation.    Linda was an active member of First United Methodist Church in St. Louis her entire life. She served as the Financial Secretary for many years and sang in the choir for over forty years. Her love of music also led to her participation in Festival Chorus at Central Michigan University and in Gratiot County Players. 

     Linda enjoyed traveling both before and after retirement and had visited all fifty states, plus some foreign countries. Over the years, she took her children and grandchildren on many of her trips. There were frequent trips to Oregon to visit her sister Ann and her family. She was an avid walker averaging at least twenty miles a week for over thirty years. (You do the math, students!) Linda was an avid reader averaging fifty to sixty books a year and loved solving puzzles, including word search, crossword, and Sudoku, etc.

     She is survived by son Brian (Maria) Roberson of St. Louis, MI; daughter Lisa Roberson of St. Louis, MI; five grandchildren: Brittney (fiancé Dylan Weller) Roberson, Allyssa Roberson, Justyn (Lexi) Tribelhorn, Kevin Tribelhorn, and Rebeka (Aaron) Hoyt; and five great- grandchildren: Jayce, Phoenix, Nova, Elijah, and Nevaeh; sister Ann (Ike) Launstein, and three nieces: Heidi, Krista, and Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents and longtime companion Bill Dittenber.
