Linda Marie (Sykes) Smith

    Linda Marie Smith, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the age of 74.   

     A private family memorial is being planned. 

     Linda was born on June 1, 1948 the daughter of Benjamin T. Sykes, Jr. and Dorothy (Karnath) Sykes.  She was a graduate of Portland St. Patrick High School and resided most of her life in Fowler.

     Linda’s grandchildren were the highlight of her life.   She spent her retirement years immersed in their company.  She kept her inner circle tight, and she fiercely loved those within it.  A kind-hearted woman, she would help anyone she could.  She spent many years caring for others as a nurse’s aid and was loved by her patients.  Her early employment years were with General Motors.  She was an avid University of Michigan fan and a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. 

     Linda is survived by her children: Terri (Eric) Bolyard of St. Johns, MI; Jason (Cari) Smith of Fowler, MI; Stacey (Will Moser) Smith of Anchorage, AK; Scott Smith of St. Johns, MI; Mark Smith of St. Johns, MI; and Jeff Smith of Carson City, MI; her grandchildren, Madison Bolyard; Tristan, Quentin, and Kaedyn Smith; and Katlyn and Cody Smith; her great-grandchildren, Logan and Hayven Smith; one sister-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and her beloved dog, Bo.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Smith; grandparents Benjamin and Della Sykes; parents-in-law Vincent and Loyola Smith: sisters: Carol Graft and Elizabeth Sykes; brother, Leon “Butch” Sykes; three brothers-in-law; her beloved dog, Duke; and her parents.
