Linus Bond

Linus Archie Bond, age 90, of Owosso, MI passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Linus was born in St. Johns, Michigan on January 8, 1921, the son of Archie and Clara (Bosley) Bond. He was a graduate of St. Johns High School, attended Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University. Linus resided most of his life in Owosso. Linus married E.G. Marshall on January 3, 1942 in Owosso. She passed away June 25, 2004.

Linus worked in the Purchasing Department of Universal Magnetek, retiring in 1989 after 30 years then worked part time in Miami, Florida for Equipment Company of America for 12 years. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Owosso. Linus also was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Catholic Youth Association and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered with St. Vincent DePaul. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, receiving a Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal. Linus was an avid sports fan, especially baseball and truly loved the Detroit Tigers. His entire life was his family and greatly enjoyed having everyone together.

He is survived by his 10 children; Nan and Dr. Jack Judy of Williamston, MI, Jill and Donald Chambers of Owosso, MI, Linda and Peter Mayer of Leesburg, FL, David and Kathy Bond of Owosso, MI, Stephen Bond of Owosso, MI, Mary and John Plowman of Perry, MI, Susan and Robert Chandler of Owosso, MI, Ellen and Keith Gregory of Richland, MI, Jane and David Conklin of Lawrenceville, GA, Teresa and Max Putnam of Colorado Springs, CO, 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Linus was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
