Lloyd Burnam (Shorty) Criner, age 80, of Elsie, Michigan died Thursday, November 26th, 2009 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, on Monday, November 30th at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Dave Kimball will officiate. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan.
Visitation will be held on Sunday 2-8 p.m. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P. M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie chapel.

Lloyd was born in Bannister, Michigan on March 5, 1929, the son Orville Oakley and Edith Marguerite (Howard) Criner. He had resided all of his life in the Bannister, Chapin area. Lloyd married Irene Luella Craven on August 6, 1953, Irene died in 1979. On November 29, 1980 he married Norma Jean Miller who survives him.

He was a farmer and worked for Peet Packing in Chesaning, Michigan until his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed summers in Canada and winters in Tennessee, camping and fishing. Lloyd served his country in the US Army as a Cpl. during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post #502 Elsie, Michigan.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Criner of Elsie, 3 sons, Gale and Janet Criner of Owosso, MI, Arthur and Robin Criner of Elsie, MI, Neil and Lisa Criner of Elsie, MI, 5 stepsons, Arvel Netherton of Truth or Consequences, NM, Ronald and Cyndi Netherton of Murfreesboro, TN, Danny Netherton of Tipton, IN, David and Ginny Netherton of Muncie, IN, Robert Netherton of Tipton, IN, 8 grandchildren & 14 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren & 12 step great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Joyce and George Somers of Adrian, MI, Arlis Bishop of Middleville, MI. He was predeceased by his first wife, a son, Kevin, 1 granddaughter Stephanie, 1 stepson, Carl. 1 sister, Vivian Lover, 2 brothers, Jessie Abner & Elwyn George.

Memorials may be made to Brady Center Wesleyan Church.
