Lois Green

Lois Fay Green age 90, of Riverdale, formerly of Ovid, MI, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Ovid, MI on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Dennis Boonstra and Pastor Tim Dickenson officiating.  Burial will take place at Eureka Cemetery, Eureka, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI.

Lois was born in Fairfield Township, MI on December 5, 1927, the daughter of Luie and Bernice (Nethaway) Perry. She graduated from Ovid High School with the class of 1946. On October 13, 1946 she married Robert R. Green in Levering, MI; Robert passed away on January 4, 2002.

Lois was an artist and enjoyed painting and singing.  She loved all aspects of caring for and being with her family including writing and illustrating children's stories. She was a lifetime member of the Ovid First Baptist Church, where she was very involved with planning programs, ladies ministries and serving as the church treasurer. She made artwork for Radio Bible Class Ministries in Grand Rapids. She especially loved playing games with her friends and family. Lois was also involved with the Ovid Historical Society.

She is survived by her daughters: Laura (David) Dickey of Camden, MI; Barbara (John) Miller of Riverdale, MI; son Robert Ronald (Carol) Green of Olathe, KS; and son in law Ted Deur of Ishpeming, MI. She is also survived by grandchildren: Donovan (Amy) Miller, Valarie (Troy) Johnston, Amy (Robert) Hinderer, Kristin Thomas, Jessica (Bryon) Howlett; 13 great grandchildren; sister Marilyn (LeRoy) Walker of Ovid, MI; sister in law Lois Perry of Ovid, MI; and brother in law Rev. Donald Green of Lansing, MI.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Green, daughter Linda Deur, 2 sisters: Philena Curtis, and Catherine Miller and brother Lawrence Perry.
