Lora Johnson

Lora Allen Johnson, age 93, of Mesa, AZ formerly of Owosso, MI passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009 at The Court at East Mesa Nursing Home in Arizona.

A Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Hills, Flint Michigan on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. Minister Steve Lockwood will officiate.

Lora was born in Boone, Michigan on June 25, 1916, the daughter of Earl and Ada (Laizure) Harris. She graduated from Flint Central High School.

Lora married Elton J. Allen on January 3, 1933; he passed away July 31, 1984, she then married Richard Johnson in 1989; he passed away in November 2005. She resided most of her life in Owosso, moving to Arizona in 1978. Lora was a member of the First Congregational Church, Owosso.

Lora was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross and a member of the Owosso Country Club for 30 years. She worked at Vernors Ginger Ale and was a past owner of a restaurant with her friend Helen Hayes in Flint during WW II. Lora loved to golf and spend time near the water.

She is survived by her 2 sons; Richard Allen of Owosso, MI, Duane and Jeannine Allen of Apache Junction, AZ, grandchildren; Shelly, Nadine, Elizabeth, Julie, Gregory and Jeffery and 8 great-grandchildren.

Lora was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, daughter-in-law Shirley Allen, granddaughter Nanette, 2 brothers; William & Harlan and 2 sisters; Thelma & Lorraine.
