Loran James Harris age 82 of Owosso, MI died Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Pine Healthcare Center, Lansing, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor John Walworth will officiate with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 18, 2008 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel.
Loran was born in Crump, Michigan on October 2, 1925, the son of Dale S. and Pearl M. (Lavely) Harris. He graduated from Rochester Hills High School with the class of 1944. Loran married Alora Lu Grant in 1968 in Shiawassee County. She passed away on August 21, 1984. Loran was a switch technician for General Telephone Company, now Verizon, for 25 years. He enjoyed tinkering with motors, fishing, gardening, and taking care of his yard. He served his country in the Mechant Marines during WWII. He was a member of AM Vets, Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and American Legion Post #57 in Owosso.
He is survived by his greatly loved step children Connie and Ed Hildebrant of Owosso, MI, Mark and Tammy Gifford of St. Johns, MI, 7 grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, brother John "Cal" Harris of Waterford, MI, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, and one sister Alberta.
