Loren Rose

Loren G. "Mike" Rose, age 88, of Alma, MI went to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Gratiot Medical Center, Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, with Pastor Randall Mead officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mike was born in Riverdale, Michigan on December 18, 1925, the son of Glenn A. and Ada (Hyde) Rose. Mike graduated from Riverdale High School with the class of 1944. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Perkins. Mike married Naomi Mae VanNote on June 18, 1955 in St. Louis; she preceded him in death on May 8, 2008. Mike was a lifelong resident of Gratiot County and retired from Consumers Power in 1987. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, enjoyed camping, and loved spending time with his family and friends. Mike was a member of St. Louis First Church of God.

He is survived by 2 sons; Glenn and Gloria Rose of Alma, MI, Gregg and Shelly Rose of Wheeler, MI, grandchildren; Mollie Sourek of LeMoore, CA, Stephanie Sourek of Traverse City, MI, Glenn Rose Jr. of Kalamazoo, MI, Loren Rose of Breckenridge, MI, Elliot Rose of Wheeler, MI, 1 great granddaughter Scarlett, sister Beth and Frank Walker of Vestaburg, MI, sister June Brecht of Elwell, MI, "the special gang"; Fran and Denny Springstead of Alma, MI, Sibby Loomis of Alma, MI, and Donna Green of St. Louis, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Naomi, brother Ralph and Elsie Rose, sister Beatrice and Wayne Hall, sister Virginia and Albert DeMeyer, and brother Bill and Marcelene Rose.
