Loren Ward

Loren Gary Ward, 68, of Ovid, MI, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Richard Jolliff officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the Memorial Service beginning at 10:00 A.M.

Loren was born in Lansing, MI on December 15, 1952, the son of Lawrence G. and Lucile M. (Bouts) Ward. He graduated from DeWitt High School with the class of 1971 and earned a Bachelors degree in Theology from Life Christian University. After retirement, Loren became an ordained minister.

On June 12, 1971, Loren married Tonya Lee Hart at Hope Lutheran Church, DeWitt, MI. They were blessed with nearly 50 years of marriage.

Loren worked for General Motors for over 35 years. He then drove delivery truck for Round Lake Produce for over 10 years. Loren was a trustee at Amazing Grace Church, Wheeler, MI.

Loren was an avid golfer and faithful Detroit Lions fan! He loved his Lord and family. Loren had a great sense of humor and liked to make people laugh! He was a down-to-earth man who enjoyed the simple things in life!

Loren is survived by his wife Tonya, daughter Michelle (Ken Gifford) Ward of Dimondale, son Richard (Theresa) Ward of St. Johns, grandson Justin (Brie Kissane) Corliss, granddaughter Amanda Ward, and great grandson Noah. He is also survived by 4 siblings: Louis Ward, Leonard (Rose Ann) Ward, Toni Vallo, and LeRoy (Jackie) Ward.  Loren was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Jim Ward, and sister-in-law Cleola Ward.
