Luann Marie Nielsen

       Luann Marie Nielsen, age 63, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, at her home.

       A Celebration of Luann's Life will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be held at 11:30 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.

      Luann was born in Sheridan, Michigan on July 22, 1960, the daughter of Lewis Henry and Joanne Marilyn (Smith) Nielsen. She graduated from Vestaburg High School with the class of 1978 and earned a bachelor’s degree in business/accounting from Davenport University.

      Luann was a hard worker. She spent many years in the food services industry. She owned and operated a restaurant in Provincetown, MA for several years and was the Canteen Services Manager at the Eaton & Gratiot County Jails. She also worked at Clover Industries (Cartridges-R-Us) for over 10 years.

      Luann was a loyal friend. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her friends. She had a great sense of humor and could always make you laugh. She loved her family and spending time with them. Luann was always a willing participant in Pam's crazy holiday photo shoots.

      She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Casey) Nielsen; her parents Lewis and Joanne Nielsen; her brother David Nielsen; and her sister Pamela Slachter. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Robert Slachter.
