Lucille Kosnik

Lucille Rita Kosnik passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the age of 80 at her home.

Lucille was born in Monroe , Louisiana on July 13, 1941 , the daughter of Peter D. and Mica (Dispenza) Cernigliaro. She married Walter Ronnie Kosnik on November 20, 1965 and resided in Ithaca , Michigan where they raised their family. Lucille was a bookkeeper for the Gratiot-Isabella RESD for 25 years and retired in 2000.

Lucille enjoyed perch fishing, family gatherings, and making afghan blankets for all of her grandchildren.  Her grandchildren always knew that Grandma would have a home cooked meal prepared for them.  No one will ever replicate her spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna or pie crust no matter how hard they try.  She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Ithaca .

Lucille is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years Walter Kosnik of Au Gres, MI; her children: Stephanie (Jeff) Ritz of South Lyon, MI; Renee Walker of Bastrop, LA; Michael (Melinda) Kosnik of Jefferson, WI; one daughter-in-law: Tammy Kosnik of St. Johns, MI; 11 grandchildren: Austin (Rochelle) Ritz, Olivia (Dan) Schroeder, Mica Lucille (Collin) Bundy, Isabel Kosnik, Blaine Ritz, Noah Kosnik, Emily Kosnik, Jordyn Kosnik, Aidan Ritz, Francesca Sustae, Evan Sustae and 3 great-grandchildren: Weston and Wiley Ritz, and Eleanor Bundy.  She is also survived by 3 brothers: Joseph (Janice) Cernigliaro, Michael (Pam) Cernigliaro, and Peter (Belita) Cerniglairo of Louisiana.  She was predeceased by her parents and her son, Matthew Kosnik.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Ithaca , MI at 10 A.M. on Saturday October 30, 2021 with Rev. Fr. Edwin Dwyer presiding.  Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns , MI .  Visitation will be Friday October 29, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca , MI .  A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Those unable to attend in person may view the mass through the Smith Family Funeral Homes Facebook page.
