Lucille Marie Shaver, age 83, of rural Wheeler, MI, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan Lansing, MI.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. at the Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI. A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetary, Breckenridge, MI.
Lucille was born in Flint, Michigan on July 14, 1931, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Stenzil) Neitzke. Shortly after her birth the family moved to the family farm in rural Breckenridge. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1950. She married Arthur Sawvel on July 29, 1951. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1958. She married Robert Shaver on April 23, 1960.
Lucille faithfully attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wheeler. Robert and Lucille farmed together many years. She had a love of learning and nature, gardening and cooking, sewing and photography. She loved serving her family, friends and church.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Shaver and her three children Steven (Ellen) Sawvel of East Lansing, MI, David Sawvel of Windsor, CO, and Betty (Thomas) Traciak of Mason, MI. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Dr. Michael Sawvel of Roanoke, VA, Daniel Sawvel of Roanoke, VA, SPC Andrew Traciak of Tacoma, WA, Aaron Traciak of Winter Park, FL, and Leah Traciak of Mason, MI.
The family wishes to thank Pastor Larry Warsinski of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the caring staff of Hospice House of Mid-Michigan and the many friends and family who sent cards and emails.
