Lucille Adeline "Luci" Tugan, age 95, formerly of Ithaca, MI passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at Masonic Pathways, Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at the Doig Chapel of Masonic Pathways, Alma, MI on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor George Ayoub and Pastor Phil Maxwell officiating. Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI with Pastor Richard Fulkerson officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI.
Lucille was born in Cadillac, Michigan on December 2, 1917, the daughter of Lewis E. and Geita (Ide) Allen. She graduated from Spring Arbor High School. Lucille married Steven Tugan on May 3, 1936. He died May 31, 2007.
Lucille worked for Ithaca Public Schools as a bus driver. She was often called to serve as a soloist for funerals and weddings. Ithaca Jaycees named her Woman of the Year in 1973. She enjoyed writing stories and poems, sewing, painting, ceramics, flower gardening, bird watching, stain-glass and loved decorating cakes. Lucille stated that nothing gave her more satisfaction than her children. She was a member of Central Michigan Free Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant, MI.
Lucille is survived by 10 children; Kathleen (Clarence) Nieman of Michigan, Carolyn (Leon) Van Wagoner of Camden, TN, Susan (James) Fraley of Mt. Pleasant, MI, James (Terri) Tugan of Shelbyville, IN, Marvin (Evelyn) Tugan of Sidney, MI, Thomas Tugan of Colorado, David (Joyce) Tugan of Sterling, Alaska, Jane Temple of Maine, Debra Kelley of Traverse City, MI, Laurie (Christopher) Beltran of Concord, CA, 2 daughters-in-law; Carol Tugan of Vestaburg, MI and Mona Tugan of Covert, MI, 43 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, 2 half brothers; Edward (Grace) Allen of Manchester, TN and Eldon Allen of Mereno Valley, CA. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, 3 infant children; Timothy, Sally and Baby Steven Tugan, 3 sons; Steven T. Tugan, Gary E. Tugan and Daniel J. Tugan, 5 sisters, 2 brothers and 3 half brothers.
