Lyle Allen Shinabarger, age 71, of Carson City, Michigan died Sunday, December 6, 2015 at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mt. Hope United Brethren Church, Carson City, Michigan on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Andrew Stahl officiating.
Lyle was born in Carson City, Michigan on February 9, 1944, the son of George William and Freda Viola (Thompson) Shinabarger. He graduated from Carson City High School with the class of 1962. On February 7, 1970 he married Betty Schrauben in Carson City, Michigan.
Lyle was born and raised in Carson City, Michigan. He served his country in the US Marines during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post, Carson City and Sheridan VFW Post. He was a member of the GWRRA motorcycle club. Lyle worked as a correction officer at OTF, Carson City, Michigan for 15 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed riding his Gold Wing, bow hunting and spending time at deer camp. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife Betty Shinabarger of Carson City, MI, son Lyle (Cheryl) Shinabarger II of Carson City, MI, daughter Brenda Shinabarger of Carson City, MI, 4 grandchildren; Courtney (Jon) Rohn of Crystal, MI, Justin Miller of Grand Rapids, MI, Hailey (Robby) Whitcomb of Virginia, and Drake Shinabarger of Carson City, MI. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 1 sister Gloria Baney, and 2 brothers; Donald and Wayne Shinabarger.
