Madelyn F. Fricke age 95, of Owosso, MI passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Durand Senior Care & Rehab Center, Durand, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Owosso, MI on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Father Mike Kuchar will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday April 25, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso.
Madelyn was born in Copemish, Michigan on August 15, 1915, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Doneth) Frederick. Madelyn resided most of her life in Owosso and was a graduate of St. Paul High School, Owosso. Madelyn married Alfred Fricke on October 28, 1936 in St. Johns. He passed away December 30, 1992.
Madelyn was a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In earlier years she was a caregiver to elderly members of her family. She loved to crochet and was a wonderful seamstress and especially loved sewing for her family. Madelyn crocheted many hats and baby afghans that she donated over the years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Owosso.
She is survived by her son Chuck and Sue Fricke of Grand Rapids, MI, daughter Carol Sprague of DeWitt, MI, son Craig and Liz Fricke of Olney, MD, grandchildren; Michelle Fricke, Amy (Chad) Bocian, Ryan Sprague, Scott, Jack, and Grant Fricke, great-grandchildren; Jacob, Madelyn, and Isabelle Bocian, niece & "angel" Sandra Frederick of Owosso, niece Darlene and Larry Morden of Frankfort, MI and other nieces & nephews. Madelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Aaron Sprague and brother Millard (Nora) Frederick.
