Margaret Lucille McJilton, age 90, of St. Louis, MI passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Schnepp Health Care Center, St. Louis, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Mr. Keith Wise officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Margaret was born in St. Louis, Michigan on May 26, 1924, the daughter of Harry and Anna (Clegg) Franks. She was married to Harold McJilton on December 17, 1944 in St. Louis, MI. Margaret was a lifelong resident of St. Louis, growing up on her parents' farm, then moving to live with her husband on his farm east of St. Louis. She was a graduate of St. Louis High School, and earned her Masters Degree from Central Michigan University. She taught elementary school in Alma for many years and then directed the middle school library for several years. During WWII, she lived in Bay City where she drove a fork lift moving aircraft engines being heat-treated in kilns. Her interests included sewing her wardrobe and flying an airplane for a number of years. Margaret and Harold were active members of the St. Louis Church of Christ throughout their lives.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years Harold McJilton of St. Louis, MI, 3 children; Joyce and John Dwyer of Maynard, MA, Shirley and Larry Seamans of South Haven, MI, and Keith and Christine McJilton of St. Louis, MI, 4 granddaughters; Diana and Kent Morehouse of Midland, MI, Jackie and Kris Robinson of Hemlock, MI, Sara Seamans of Ann Arbor, MI, and Katie and Paul Zurek of Tacoma, WA, 5 great grandchildren, 3 sisters; Evelyn Hrncharik of St. Johns, MI, Virginia and Don Plaxton of St. Johns, MI, and JoAnn Safranski of St. Louis, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Hugh Franks.
