Maria Esther Davila, age 84, of Midland, MI formerly of St. Louis, MI passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Tendercare Midland, Midland, MI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI with Rev. Fr. Thai Nguyen and Deacon Al Oliver officiating. Burial will take place at Chapel Gardens Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 2:00-8:00 with the family present 2-4 & 6-8 at the Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel. A Rosary will be prayed at 8:00 p.m.

Esther was born in San Diego, TX on April 5, 1928, the daughter of Victor and Marianna (Gonzalez) Vega. She married Israel Davila on January 24, 1946 and they resided most of their life in St. Louis, MI. Esther was a former member of Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Louis, MI.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Israel M. Davila Sr. of Midland, MI, 4 sons: Israel (Angela) Davila, Jr. of Saginaw, MI, Daniel (Loraine) Davila of Bay City, MI, Oscar Davila of Bay City, MI, Victor (Cherie) Davila of Saginaw, MI, 2 daughters; Juanita "Janie" (Leslie) Hunt of St. Louis, MI and Dora Ann Reed of Midland, MI, 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 brothers; Antonio (Elsie) Vega of Hamilton, OH and Jessie (Aurorita) Vega of San Antonio, TX, sister Mona Garza of San Antonio, TX and sister-in-law Evelyn Vega of St. Louis, MI. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by son-in-law, Michael Reed, 3 brothers; John Vega, Victor Vega Jr. & Joseph Vega and 1 sister Adelina Garza.
