Maria Hessbrook

Maria "Teresa" Hessbrook, age 82, of Ithaca, MI passed away Friday, July 29, 2011 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church Ithaca, MI on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 11:00 A.M., Rev. Fr. Jules Spleet will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 2, 2011 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Home and will also be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Ithaca, MI.

Teresa was born in Edinburg, Texas on October 14, 1928, the daughter of Julio and Guadalupe (Cantu) Guzman Sr. Teresa married George Hessbrook Sr. on September 20, 1946. George preceded her in death on August 2, 2005.

Teresa was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching all sports on television but was a true fan of the Ithaca Yellow Jackets. She especially enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in sporting events. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to garage sales.

She is survived by daughter Norma and Stuart Netzley of Ithaca, 4 sons; George and Lynn Hessbrook Jr. of Ithaca, Gary and Barb Hessbrook of Ithaca, Todd and Sherri Hessbrook of Ithaca, Terry and Kristy Hessbrook of Ithaca, 12 grandchildren; Tim Netzley, Tricia Netzley, John and Mindi Hessbrook, Ryan and Kristie Hessbrook, Nicole and Toby Crowley, Derek Hessbrook & (Megan Rimmel), Jordan & Logan Hessbrook, Kelsey & Brady Hessbrook, Ben & Nathan Wolfgang and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers; Ricardo (Nena) Guzman of Edinburg, Texas and Julio (Janet) Guzman of McAllen, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Sr. and 1 sister.
