Marian Alida Blakeslee, age 83, of Corunna, MI passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Chris Higgins will officiate. Burial will follow at Easton Cemetery, New Haven Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday January 4, 2010 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Marian was born in Easton, Michigan on August 10, 1926, the daughter of Edwin Pray and Maude Altha (Little) Spitler. She graduated from Chesaning High School. Marian resided most of her life in Owosso and Sanford, MI, and for the last three years was a resident of Corunna.
On September 13, 1944 Marian married Richard Blakeslee her high school sweetheart, at Easton Church of Christ. Richard passed away on February 27, 2006.
Marian worked in the office and in production for Universal Electric in Owosso for 17 years, she also worked at Pre-Tone Inc. Marian was a member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary, a former Girl Scout Leader, taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed playing the piano. She was a member at First Church of Christ in Owosso, MI and had attended Meridian Church of God in Midland. Aunt Marian's special gift was sending greeting cards to family members for special occasions.
Marian is survived by 3 daughters; Kathleen and Thomas Baxter of North Carolina, Darleen and Paul Gibbs of Corunna, MI, Patricia and Robert Klein of Owosso, MI, foster daughter Charlotte and Gordon Milnes of Northville, MI, 6 grandchildren; Erica Smith, Kirsten and Courtney Bynum, Brent and Kari Klein, Scott and Jen Klein, Dan and Janelle Milnes, Lisa and Ben Kopek, 12 great-grandchildren; Dallas, Austin and Madeline Smith, Lily and Jack Bynum, Reece, Ian and Anna Klein, Sydney, Shiloh and Shelby Milnes and Ella Kopek, special nephew Bill and Marg Blakeslee of Evart, MI, and brother-in-law Archie and Iris Blakeslee, Jr. of Middletown, NY. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, and 3 brothers, Claude, Orville & Bruce Spitler.
