Marian J. (Most) Zimmerman
September 6, 1922 - May 21, 2009

Marian ("Ma" to so many of us) ended this life's journey on May 21, 2009 at her home with Brenda & Mary "Zip" in Mt. Pleasant, MI.

Marian had been a 40 + year resident of Ashley, MI. After her husband, Charles Henry "Toddy" Zimmerman died, she moved in with Brenda & Zip (The McZims). Other than a couple of times of living at the Elsie Meadows Apartments complex, she spent her remaining years with the McZims. She is survived by three daughters; Bessi (Tom) Saylor of Gobles, MI, Zip (Brenda) Zimmerman of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Patty (Glenn) Oliver of Elsie, MI, and four sons; Harold (Joanne) Zimmerman of St. Johns, MI, George (Yvonne) Zimmerman of Mills City, OR, Donald (Norma) Zimmerman of Saginaw, MI, and Victor Zimmerman and one brother, Donald (Doris) Most. Marian has 27 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Marian is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry "Toddy" Zimmerman; daughters; Helen Zimmerman and Darlene (Zimmerman) Wagner.

Marian wore many hats throughout her journey. She was a housewife and mother; factory worker & helped her husband with his roofing business besides being a school volunteer for class trips and projects. She was a Stanley dealer for countless years, and sold Amway. She loved to cook, bake and did endless canning. Many of us will miss her Sunday fried chicken and homemade noodles and her fresh baked bread & cinnamon rolls. She loved to play cards and bingo. The past couple of years Alzheimer's/dementia has tried to destroy even that for her, but until a few weeks ago, she was still playing cards with her wonderful respite lady, Sue Germain, supplied by the Isabella County Commission on Aging. Marian's family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the Commission for all their support over the past few years, and especially to Barb Frankenfield, Jenine Stickler (deceased) and of course to Sue! We ask that any donations please be made to the Isabella County Commission on Aging or to the annual Alzheimer's Memory Walk sponsored by the Schnepp's Health Care Center in St. Louis, MI, in Marian's memory. Heartland Hospice wonderfully helped care for Marian in her final weeks on this earth & the family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving & caring support of the Heartland team.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009 from 5-8 P.M. and Friday, May 22, 2009 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Wayne Shidler will officiate. Burial will take place at Lafayette Township Cemetery, Lafayette Township, Michigan. Marian's final escorts will be six of her grandchildren; Lisa Coffman, Nadine Bisalski, Melissa Zimmerman, Michelle Freshour, Chris Oliver, and Joey Oliver.
