Marianne Ward

Marianne B. Ward, age 77, of Ashley, MI died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Carson City Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., with Mr. Tom Bradley officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until the time of service.

Marianne was born in St. Johns, MI on February 22, 1936, the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Skaryd) Maxa. She retired from AO Smith in 2001 after 46 years of service and was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge #225 in Bannister, MI.

Marianne loved fishing, playing cards, baking, scrap booking and doing word search. She loved spending time with her family and the outdoors. Marianne said she was her father's "hunting buddy." She bowled in leagues for many years. Marianne was a very giving person.

She is survived by her son John and Kellie Ward of Ashley, MI, 3 grandchildren; Allison Ward, Derek Ward and Heather Ward, 2 sisters; Martha and Jim Maddix of Gaylord, MI and Diane and Jim Korienek of St. Johns, MI, brother Richard and Karen Maxa of St. Johns, MI, brother-in-law Lloyd Dougherty of Ithaca, MI, aunt Vlasta Kopta of Merrill, MI and many nieces and nephews. Marianne was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Dorothy Dougherty.
