Marie Peoples, age 87, of Ashley, MI died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Randy Stehouwer will officiate. Burial will take place at Matherton Cemetery, Matherton, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Marie was born in Matherton, Michigan on September 10, 1923, the daughter of Leo D. and Eva Belle (Bennett) Prichard. She married Cleo Peoples on June 22, 1940 in Ionia, MI. He passed away on August 31, 1983. Marie was a lifelong resident of Ashley. She loved to play cards and bingo, crocheting, embroidering, reading, gardening, feeding & watching the birds. Marie enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Harley Peoples of Lansing, MI, daughter Mary Chapman of Ashley, MI, daughter Norma Coleman of Alma, MI, daughter Shirley and Gerald Masar of Ithaca, MI, son Jerry and Joan Peoples of Ashley, MI, daughter Arlene and Oren Patterson of Oklahoma City, OK, son Howard and Karen Peoples of Ithaca, MI, daughter in law Jeanette Peoples of Ithaca, MI, son in law Gerald Ostrander of St. Johns, MI, 20 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Betty and Patricia, and a sister in law Lorna Prichard of St. Johns, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son, 2 daughters, and 4 siblings.
