Marion Ferne Gibson, 86, of DeWitt, MI, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Michigan Medicine, Ann Arbor, MI.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Jude's Catholic Church, DeWitt, MI, on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. David Speicher officiating. Burial will follow at Gunnisonville Cemetery, DeWitt, MI.
Marion was born in Lansing, MI, on September 15, 1934, the daughter of Arthur Peter and Ferne Beatrice (Hunt) Shooltz. She graduated from Resurrection High School, Lansing, MI with the class of 1942. On December 23, 1980, she married Welsey James Gibson in Mason, MI.
Marion's greatest joy was time spent with her family. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother and loved hosting family gatherings. Marion was a caregiver, always bringing people into her home who needed care. She liked everyone and never said a bad word about anyone. Marion had a talent for sewing and shopping. She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and anything with friends. She always looked forward to the Resurrection High School class reunions and family reunions. Marion's faith was very important to her. She was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church and was a faithful participant at Mass.
Marion is survived by her husband Wesley, 9 children: Karen (Robert) Winchester of Webberville, Dianne (Alex) Broussard of East Fallowfield, PA, Mark (Diane) Denda of Sunfield, Renee (Mark) Bentley of St. Johns, Paul (Betty) Martens of Dewitt, Shelley Woodworth of Eaton Rapids, Michael (Kennetha) Gibson of Lansing, Dorothy Gibson of Broomfield, CO, and John (Shirani) Gibson of Erie, CO; son-in-law Kevin Hunt of St. Johns, 25 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sharon Hunt, grandson Leslie Woodworth, and sister Joyce Ann Klaker.
