Marion Ries

Marion "Bud" C. Ries age 92 of St. Louis, Michigan died Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Masonic Pathways, Alma, Michigan.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Terri Bentley will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 for one hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M.

Bud was born in St. Louis, Michigan on October 8, 1915 the son of Charles and Ina ( Kiter ) Ries. He was a life long resident of St. Louis, MI and graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1934. Bud married Dorothy Hudson on August 24, 1938 in St. Louis, Michigan. She died on August 1, 2004. Bud retired from Powell's Plumbing and Heating in 1977. He was also a mechanic for Pure Oil Co. He enjoyed woodworking, and made many beautiful things. Bud and Dorothy also were very active in the Senior Center and enjoyed traveling. Bud was a life long member of the Masonic Order and Order of Eastern Stars.

He is survived by 4 daughters; Patricia & Edward Slack of Lansing, MI, Kathryn & Ray Sitts of Wheeler, MI, Shirley & Ed Harper of Houghton Lake, MI, Rosalie & Skeeter Miller of Lansing, MI, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 sister Frances Irvin of Alma, MI. He is predeceased by his parents, wife, son Jim, daughter Sharon, great grandson Joshua Sitts, and 7 siblings.

Memorials may be made to Gratiot County Commision on Aging. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
