Marjorie Derby

Marjorie Jean Derby age 87 of Ithaca, Michigan died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Masonic Pathways, Alma, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, MI on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Pastor George Ayoub will officiate with burial at Fritz Cemetery Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2008 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Marjorie was born in Clare, Michigan on May 11, 1921 the daughter of William N. and Alethea M. ( Veeder ) Irish. She resided most of her life in Ithaca, Michigan and graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1938. Marjorie married William Douglas Derby in 1941. He predeceased her in April of 1986. She worked as the Gratiot County Deputy Treasurer from January 1958 until her retirement in December of 1979. Marjorie loved crossword puzzles and spending time at Lake George with her family and going for pontoon rides. Marjorie was a member of Ithaca United Methodist Church where she served with the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her children; Susan & Donald Heimburger of Ithaca, MI, Sharon Bunce of Ovid, MI, Mary Derby of St. Johns, MI, 7 grandchildren; Steve & Lisa Heimburger, David & Lori Heimburger, Mike & Lucy Heimburger, : Ryan & Heather Bunce, Randy Bunce, Derek & Stephanie Dombroski, Conan & Tina Dombroski, 6 great grandchildren, and sister Pat & Victor Stapleton. She is predeceased by her parents, husband and son John M. Derby in 1976.

Memorials may be made to Ithaca United Methodist Church, or Hospice of Michigan. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
