Marjory Rose Cheney age 80 of Ithaca, Michigan died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at Masonic Pathways, Alma, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Ithaca United Methodist Church, Ithaca, Michigan on Friday, December 23, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. David McBride will officiate with burial at New Haven Center Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday December 22, 2005 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Marjory was born in Tustin, Michigan on June 7, 1925 the daughter of Albert & Nellie (Gerberich) Stenke after the death of Nellie, Albert married Bessie and she was as raised by Albert & Bessie Stenke. She resided most of her life in the Ithaca Area and she graduated from Cadillac High School and received a bachelora�(TM)s degree from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Marjory married W. Glen Cheney in Alto, Michigan on January 8, 1949. She was a homemaker and during the war, she worked in a factory in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she was substitute school teacher and had worked for the commission on aging. She was a member of the Ithaca United Methodist Church, Ithaca Michigan. Marjory was also a member of the Extension Club, and was an avid reader and she was often quoted "she rarely met a book she didna�(TM)t like to read". She was a loving wife and mother who had a wonderful sense of humor. She also enjoyed board games and liked to play the organ and sing.
She is survived by her husband W. Glen Cheney of Ithaca, Michigan, 1 daughter Diane Chineduh of Ithaca, Michigan, 3 sons; Alan & Ruth Cheney of Eagle, Michigan, Ronald & Brooke Cheney of Woodland, Michigan, Paul Cheney of Lansing, Michigan, 8grandchildren; Reuben Cheney, Joshua Cheney, Amanda Cheney, Christopher Chineduh, Sylvia Chineduh, Cheyenne Cheney, Casey Cheney, Melanie Cheney and 1 sister Catherine & Jimmy Westman of Halls Lake, Michigan. She is predeceased by her parents and a twin sister Margaret.
Memorials may be made to Senior Citizen Activity Building, Ithaca United Methodist Church, and Perrinton United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
