Mark Egres

Mark D. Egres, age 50, of Alma, formerly of St. Johns, Michigan passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns, Michigan on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Andy Croel and Pastor Tom Brackbill officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mark was born in Lansing, Michigan on October 10, 1964, the son of Al and Carol A. (Atkins) Egres. Mark graduated from St. Johns High School with the class of 1982. On July 10, 2002 he married Karen (Rivest) Rodriguez in St. Johns, Michigan. He worked for Home Depot in the Kitchen Cabinet Department, and he also had worked for Volunteer's of America in St. Johns, Michigan. Mark had resided most of his life in St. Johns moving to Alma 8 years ago. He served as a board member for Community Mental Health, for Clinton, Ingham, and Eaton Counties. The past 7 years he served on the Gratiot County Mental Health Board. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Alma, MI.

He is survived by his beloved wife Karen Egres, parents Al and Carol Egres, 2 sisters; Cheryl and Jeff Crum, Denise and Sanford Worden, 2 stepdaughters; Kelly and Steve Shultz, Melinda and Christian Jordan, step-granddaughter, Brooke Shultz, niece Maddie Crum, and nephew Jake Crum. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father in law, Frank and Mary Gene Rivest, and his grandparents.
