Martha S. Persing age 67 of St. Louis, Michigan died Monday, September 6, 2004 at Gratiot Community Hospital, Alma, Michigan.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 10, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel. Visitation will be held on Wednesday & Thursday from 6-8 P.M.
Martha was born in Sturgis, Michigan on August 26, 1937 the daughter of Jerry and Sarah (Miller) Troyer. She attended Sturgis Schools, and earned her GED from Alma High School. She married James Persing in Bronson, MI on June 4, 1955. Martha was employed at Alma College until her retirement. She regularly attended senior water aerobics at Alma College with her friends. Her hobbies also included crocheting, and crossword puzzles. She was an avid reader, and loved to be around people. She resided most of her life in Alma & St.Louis for the past 35 years
She is survived by her loving family including her husband Jim Persing Sr. of St. Louis, MI, 2 children Dawn & Terry Barton of St. Louis, MI, Jim & Maureen (McDonald) Persing of Sanford, MI, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, many nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by her parents.
