Marvin R. Prikasky, age 77, of Alma, Michigan passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010, at his home.
He was born on August 3, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to Martin and Bernice (Coleman) Prikasky. Marvin grew up in the Detroit area, served 4A½ years in the U.S. Navy where he met his wife, Lucie E. Brown. They were married on January 22, 1951 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. After leaving the military, he moved back to Michigan, worked at Detroiter in Alma and retired from General Motors in 1990.
He attended Beebe United Methodist Church, enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, collecting trains and going to jamborees.
Surviving him are his wife of 59 years, Lucie; daughters, Debbie (Allen) VanWormer of Silverwood and Pam Fitzpatrick of Alma; 5 grandchildren, Doug Forehand, Jody Forehand, Buddy Forehand, Zachary Pendell and JoElla Fitzpatrick; 3 great grandchildren; and a brother, Stuart (Barb) Prikasky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Marvin Prikasky, Jr.; and sister, Lucille Newman.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel with Pastor Chris Lauckner and Pastor Cindi Green officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions, in his honor, may be made to Beebe United Methodist Church or MidMichigan Home Care/Hospice or Gratiot County Commission on Aging.
