Marvin Stoneman, Sr.

Marvin Duane Stoneman Sr. age 81, of Ashley, MI, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019, at The Laurels of Carson City, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Jeff Reser officiating.  Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be held on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 6-8 P.M. and on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Marvin was born in Washington Township, MI on September 22, 1937, the son of George Ray and Marie Irene (Drummond) Stoneman.  On October 21, 1955 he married Frances Jane Tracy in Ithaca, MI; Frances passed away on December 15, 2005.

Marvin was a farmer all of his life and he retired from Ashley School as a Bus Driver.  He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sporting activities and horse events.  He also enjoyed pulling horses for more than 70 years.  You may have seen him driving his loader tractor or golf cart around the country roads.  He felt his finest achievement was his family.

He is survived by his daughter Mary and David Osborn of Ashley, MI; daughter Laura and Jeff Crocker of Ashley, MI; daughter Deana and Joe Yelsik of Ashley, MI; daughter Kristy and Jim Stahl of Ithaca, MI; son Marvin and Kim Stoneman Jr. of Ashley, MI; daughter Karen and Steve Bonham of Midland, MI; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; 2 sisters: Carol and Roger Campbell of Ovid, MI; Carolyn Sue and Jeff Brown of Granite Bay, CA; and son-in-law Mike Hughes of Camden, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter Brenda Hughes, grandson Clark Bonham, and sister and brother-in-law Delores and Gene Gall.
