Mary Julianna Baert, age 89, of Breckenridge, MI formerly of Romeo, MI died Friday, February 10, 2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 18201 23 Mile Road, Macomb Township, MI 48042 at 12:00 PM on Monday, February 13, 2012, with Rev. Fr. John Dumas officiating. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery Clinton Township, Michigan. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to her Funeral Mass at the church.
Mary was born on November 27, 1922, the daughter of Alois and Madeline (Dannels) Mooyaert. She was raised in Warren, MI. The sole child of parents who immigrated to America from Belgium, Mary taught them to speak English once she started school. She married Frank Baert on February 15, 1947 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Detroit, MI and he preceded her in death on November 16, 1978.
Mary and Frank truck gardened for a living, and raised hothouse rhubarb during the winter months. They later owned/operated Frank and Mary's Farm Market. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed crocheting doilies, and playing cards with the seniors at St. Isidore Catholic Church, where she was a member.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Madeline and Karl Schlenz of Romeo, MI, and Margaret and Gary Hoyt of St. Louis, MI, four grandsons; Charlie and Ali Ziehm, Richard and Deborah Ziehm, Frank and Joan Ziehm and Ken and Emily Hoyt, and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by 2 grandsons; Bill Hoyt and Jim Hoyt.
