Mary Ann Butcher, age 73, of Ashley, MI passed away Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Carson City Hospital, Carson City, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel, Elsie, MI on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. Mr. Tom Bradley will officiate, and burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 10, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
Mary Ann was born in Ashley, Michigan on May 12, 1935, the daughter of Merle and Mildred (Brzak) Studt. She attended Ashley Schools. Mary Ann married Orvin Butcher in Ashley, Michigan on June 28, 1952. Orvin passed away on February 4, 2005. Mary Ann resided most of her life in Ashley. She worked for Wolverine in Ithaca for a number of years. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, crocheting, going for walks, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved to visit her sister in Florida. Mary Ann was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in St Louis, Michigan; she also served on the Ashley area ambulance for a number of years.
Survivors include her daughter Terry & Frank Sefl of Ashley, MI, two sons; Bill Butcher of Elwell, MI and Jack Butcher of Kenyon, MN, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and three sisters; Patricia & Elmer Freed of Sumner, MI, Nancy and Arden Litwiller of Barron, WI, and Beverly Jelinek of Ashley, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Orvin, one sister Ruthy, and two brothers Albert and Buddy.
