Mary Etten)Reese

Mary Ellen (Van Etten) Reese passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the age of 81. She was born March 20, 1927 in St. Johns, the daughter of Anthony and Ellen (Gladstone) Stambersky. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Rebekah Lodge and was an avid gardener. Mary Ellen worked at Central National Bank and was also the Payroll Clerk for the Clinton Co. Road Commission although her first career was her best as a very loving mother.

She is survived by her daughters, Jane Marek of Ludington, Joy (John) Jelinek of Elsie, Jo (Steve) Wheeler of Kentwood, sons, Tom (Sandy) VanEtten of Bannister, Dan (Elaine) VanEtten of Fowler, seventeen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, three sisters, Jane Jolly and Dorothy Schmid of St. Johns, and Margaret (Robert) Waltz of Lake City. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Samuel VanEtten, sister, Frances Ann Stambersky and her ex-husband and father of her children, Samuel VanEtten.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at the Osgood Funeral Home with Pastor Cayle Beagle officiating, burial at Eureka Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 - 4 PM and 6 - 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to the First Congregational Church in Mary Ellen's memory.
