Mary Gallagher

Mary Ellen Gallagher age 76, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018, at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI, on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mary was born in St. Johns, MI on November 1, 1941, the daughter of Lloyd and Alberta (Thomson) Myers. She graduated from St. Johns High School. Mary went on to attend Alma Beauty College, graduating in 1971.  She married James Arden Gallagher on March 23, 1968. They were married 33 years before Jim's passing in 2001.

Mary owned and operated Mary's Country Kitchen in Ovid, MI since 1979. She previously owned and operated beauty shops in Middleton and Carson City. Mary enjoyed playing Keno, going to the races, and spending time with her friends. She loved her cats.

She is survived by son: Randy Grubaugh of Maple Rapids, MI; daughter: Robin and David Wood of Eaton Rapids, MI; daughter: Suzanne Grubaugh and Randy Elwood  of Ovid, MI; son: Jimmy Gallagher of St. Johns, MI; 7 grandchildren: Jeremy Price, Chara Johnson, Matthew Grubaugh (Kristin White), Nathaniel Harlacher, Amanda and Ryan Babcock, Mandi and Brad Harden, Korie and Tony Strachota; 9 great grandchildren; brother: Gary Myers; and sisters: Barb and Gary Warner, and Joyce and Maynard Failing. She also leaves behind many close friends and relatives.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Richard Myers, sister: Donna Rueckert and sister in law: JoAnne Myers.
