Mary M. "Margaret" Stachel, age 81, died April 23, 2014 in St. Johns. She was born on December 8, 1932 in Lansing, MI, the daughter of Seigneur James and Mary Jeanne (Heightchew) St. Pierre. Mary graduated as Salutorian from Resurrection High School in 1950. She married Charles A. Stachel on June 14, 1952 and he preceded her in death on August 29, 2004. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she taught CCD, was a member of the Altar Society, the Finance Committee and served as Eucharistic Minister. Margaret worked at the Carol Ann Shop for many years and was Hostess at the Wheel Inn.
Surviving are her children, Ricki (Gary) Burk, Jeanne (Rick) Hudson, Lisa (Mick) Lynch, Mary (Mike) Price and Carrie (Brent) Simon; 11 grandchildren – Matthew, Melanie, Megan, Tracy, Tricia, Ryan, Rachel, Mary Michele, Charlie, Taryn and Makenzie; 27 great grandchildren; siblings – Lawrence (Betty) St. Pierre; sisters-in-law; Eileen St. Pierre, Margaret St. Pierre, Martha Whiting, Lois Stachel and Mo Stachel; brothers-in-law – David Meerman and E. Lee Peterson along with many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Charles, beloved grandson Brandon Simon; siblings - Charles, James and Phyllis St. Pierre; brothers-in-law – Earl and Walter Stachel, Vic Whiting and Louis Hummel; sisters-in-law – Jane Hummel, Bernice Peterson and Marjorie Meerman.
A Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Williams presiding. Memorial visitation Friday, April 25th, 5-8 p.m., with a Vigil Service and Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m., at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the local Relay For Life or Sparrow Clinton Hospital.
