Mary Elizabeth Marsh-Cummings (Betty) Age 87, a long-time resident of Brownsburg, IN died after a brief illness on Nov. 21, 2012 at Rawlins House in Pendleton, IN. Before her death she also resided at Brownsburg Club Roland Manor and Brownsburg Meadows.
Mary was born May 9, 1925 in Alma, MI to Orland E. and Leota L. (Griffith) Campbell. She retired in 1987 from Merchants National Bank of Indianapolis, IN. Mary was a long-time member of the Church of God, Anderson, IN headquarters.
Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph A. Marsh, Sr., and Howard J. Cummings, as well as her parents, three brothers, a sister and a grandson.
Survivors include her sons, Ralph A. Marsh, Jr., (Ardeth) of St. Louis, MI, Orland E. Marsh (Beverly) of Alma, MI; her daughters, Janette K. Murray (Terry) of Steamboat Springs, CO, Jeannine F. McNamara (Kenneth) of Pendleton, IN; also children Leanne Noblitt (Grant), Lorie Sears (John), and Frederick Marsh (Barb); as well as 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; extended family members and her good friend, Mary Butzow of Camby, IN.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mary and her husband, Ralph, believed in supporting our Armed Forces Veterans by volunteering thousands of hours at various Indiana VA Medical Centers from 1954-1987. She was also a Life Member of the Indiana Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and served in local, state and national office positions. In 1973, Mary and Ralph were the first husband and wife to serve as Indiana State Commanders of the Disabled American Veterans.
Visitation will be from 3-7 pm Friday, November 23, 2012 at Matthews Mortuary, 690 East 56th Street, Brownsburg, IN. Graveside services and burial next to her husband, Ralph, will be 2:30pm Saturday November 24, 2012 at Riverside Cemetery in Alma, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family requests your consideration of a donation to a charity of your choice in Mary's name. The family is being served locally by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, Michigan.
