Mary Ann Strong, age 75, of Remus, MI passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor George Showers officiating. Burial will take place at New Haven Township Cemetery New Haven Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 2-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI.
Mary was born on her family farm in New Haven Township, Michigan on January 30, 1938, the daughter of Hugh Lawrence and Helen (McCuaig) MacLaren. Mary enjoyed gardening, flowers and taking care of her animals. She liked to read, decorate, cook and paint. Mary also enjoyed tap dancing and clogging. She was very involved with her lifelong friends and graduating classmates of Ithaca High School. Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow. She also enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters along with her extended family.
She is survived by her sons; Keith and Janet Strong, Mark and Jo Strong, Virl and Denise Strong, and Brian and Diane Strong, grandchildren; Jenna Strong, Derrick and Jerilyn Strong, Alexander Strong, Landon Strong, Matthew Strong, Nicole and Jared VanWagner, Ryan Mayle, Michael Conarton, Heidi Conarton, Heather Strong, and Bret Strong, her great grandchildren; Eila Strong, Jade, June, Juliet VanWagner, and Austin & Alexis Glidden. She is also survived by her life partner Neil LaPaugh and his family; Greg & Pat LaPaugh, Markine & Greg Sipes, Bill LaPaugh and Linda Solomon, Phillip & Diane LaPaugh and their families, as well as her sister Bonnie Barnes, brother Mack & Tsu MacLaren, sister Margaret & Jim Kemp, and brother Brick & Jane MacLaren, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, brother Larry MacLaren and brother in law Donald Barnes.
