Mary E. Ujlaky was born August 20, 1920, and went to be with Our Lord on January 30, 2013.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church Bannister, MI on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Marcel Portelli officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 2-4 P.M. and on Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI. Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mary was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to William and Mary (nee Gurdziel) Czachorowski. The family moved to Clinton County, Michigan, when she was three years old. Mary received her First Holy Communion, was confirmed, and was married at St. Cyril's Parish, Bannister, Michigan.
During WWII, she was a line worker at Bendix and Redmonds in Owosso. She worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide at the Ovid Convalescent Manor for 17 and half years and was a homemaker.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame race car driver, Emil; and her six siblings: William, Wantina, John, Anne Mae, Lottie, and Edward. She is survived by: her son, John, of Lansing, Michigan; Grandson, John W. Ujlaky, II (Bridgette) of Jenison, Michigan, and Great Grandchildren, Beaumont, Nadia, and Charisse; Granddaughter, Stephanie A. Landry (Dennis) of Middleville, Michigan, and Great Grandchildren, Olivia and Emilie; Granddaughter, Erica L. Palmerton (A. J.) of Roscommon, Michigan, and Great Grandchildren, Ethan and Chase; and Granddaughter, Alexa L. Ujlaky of Wilmington, Delaware.
