Mary Wood

Mary Helen Wood age 86, of Perrinton, MI, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 at The Laurels of Carson City - Rehab, Carson City, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Ithaca Wesleyan Church, Ithaca, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016  with Pastor Doug Strait officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will take place at Poseyville Cemetery, Midland County, MI.

Mary was born in Three Rivers, MI on July 28, 1929 the daughter of Edward Daniel and Verneta Amelia (Billings) Smith. Mary worked at the Wolverine Shoe Factory in Ithaca, MI for over 33 years until it went out of business. She obtained her high school diploma and became a Nurses Aide. She then worked at Ramblewood AFC Home and home care until she retired.

Mary loved camping. She spent most of her years going up to the lake. Over the many years, her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren shared the memorable experiences of going to the lake with her.  Mary's family was her whole life. She was loved and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her daughters; Diane Deitrich, Janet and Steve Welch, honorary first daughter Beverly Clark, grandchildren; Kariann Deitrich, Alan Deitrich, Adam Deitrich, Sharla Welch, Scott Welch, Loretta Daymon (Welch), Lisa (Deitrich) Priest, Adam Priest, Tabitha (Deitrich) Morgan, Jamie Morgan, great grandchildren; Brandon Welch, Ryan Welch, Rylie Priest, Ryan Priest, Tyler Priest, Joseph Morgan, and Michael Morgan.  Mary is also survived by brother Donald (Blanche) Smith, sister June Wilson, brother in law Lowell Becker, sister in law Shirley Smith, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mary was preceded in death 44 years ago by her sister Charlotte Love. Mary raised Charlottes children; Frederick Love and Kelly (Love) Anderson as her own. Mary was a grandmother to Teria Anderson and great grandmother to Ian Grover. Mary was also preceded in death by her sister Irene Peasley, brother Robert Smith, sister Betty Becker, and brother in law George Wilson.
