Maryann Wittenberg, age 66, of Grand Marais, MI, formerly of Ovid, MI, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Vital Care Hospice House, Cheboygan MI.
A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 12:00 P.M. Pastor Kathy Keck will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday September 29, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and Friday prior to the service from 11:00-12:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
Maryann was born in Owosso, Michigan on October 11, 1944, the daughter of Clifford and Irene (Jankowski) Hildebrant. She was a graduate of Owosso High School. Maryann resided most of her life in the Owosso, Ovid area. Maryann and Chuck Wittenberg were married on May 22, 1965 at the United Methodist Church in Ovid.
Maryann did cake decorating for 25 years, owned a craft store where she sold her paintings, and worked for the Ovid Service Agency. She was actively involved with Ovid Elsie Sporting Events and Cub Scouts. Maryann was a member of different United Methodist Churches over the years.
She is survived by her husband Chuck Wittenberg of Grand Marais, MI, son Curtis and Kelly Wittenberg of Lake Linden, MI, daughter Christine and Bill Helms of Ovid, MI, son Craig and Annie Wittenberg of Ovid, MI, 4 grandchildren; Jake and Kylie Helms, Cole and Clay Wittenberg, mother Irene Hildebrant of Owosso, MI, and brother John Hildebrant of Owosso, MI. Maryann was preceded in death by her father Clifford Hildebrant, father and mother-in-law Bill and Adra Wittenberg and sister-in-law Sharon Kurka.
