Max K. Coleman, age 83, of Wheeler, MI passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Mid Michigan Medical Center Gratiot in Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Lee Rhodes officiating. Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery Breckenridge, MI. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Max was born in Gratiot County, Michigan on October 4, 1931, the son of Jay and Ella (Muscott) Coleman. He graduated from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1949. Max married Lorraine Wolfgang on August 9, 1952 in Breckenridge, MI. He was a lifelong resident of the Breckenridge/Wheeler area, and retired from Alma Products in 1994 after 42 years of service. He played with the M46 Horseshoe Association for many years and was a member of the Hall of Fame. Max took great pride in his family, and thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings. He also enjoyed bowling, gardening, and his flower gardens.

Max is survived by his wife of 62 years Lorraine Coleman of Wheeler, MI, daughter Connie and Dave Katt of Breckenridge, MI, son Kevin and Joan Coleman of Breckenridge, MI, son Kendall and Lori Coleman of Breckenridge, MI, grandchildren; Ben and Jen Katt of Birch Run, MI, Adam Katt of Kawkawlin, MI, Kent Coleman of Alma, MI, and Hilary Coleman and Reuben Soto of Wheeler, MI, great grandchildren; Elizabeth and David Katt, 4 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, and a sister Nancy and Richard Hendricks of Breckenridge, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Norman Coleman, and a sister Joan Hatch.
