Max L. Loynes, age 85 of Chapin, Michigan passed away Sunday, March 21, 2004 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Pastor Billie Lou Gillespie-Brown will officiate with burial at Fairfield Township Cemetery, in Fairfield Township, Michigan. Visitation will be Tuesday 5:30-8 P.M. and Wednesday 4:30-8 P.M.
Max was born on August 7, 1918 in Fairfield Township, Michigan, the son of Colon & Clara ( Shuster ) Loynes. He graduated from Elsie Schools with the class of 1936. On April 14, 1944 he married Wilma Albaugh in Shiawassee County, Michigan. He retired in 1979 from Buick GM in Flint after 28 years of service. He was also a farmer. Max was also a member of UAW #599 in Flint. He resided all of his life in the Chapin area.
He is survived by his wife Wilma Loynes of Chapin, MI, 2 daughters: Gwen & Ken Fisher of Chapin, MI, Ellen & John Sternaman of Owosso, MI, 1 son Les & Carol Loynes of Fremont, IN, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 2 sisters Sue Frazer of Houghton Lake, MI, Jean & John Loznak of Owosso, MI and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, 1 great granddaughter, and 2 brothers, Bill and Rex.
Memorials may be made to Chapin United Church or Elsie Area Ambulance Service. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
