Maxine Hughes

Maxine K. Hughes, passed away on June 10, 2012 at the age of 89. She was born November 8, 1922 in Ravenna, MI. The daughter of Gerald and Elsie (Dahl) McNitt. Maxine was retired from the former D&C Store in St. Johns, MI, where many children from town knew her simply as "Grandma Mikki", the little red-headed woman behind the candy counter. May she rest in peace.

Maxine is survived by three sisters, Geri Benedum, of Milwaukee, Ruth McCarthy and Doris Krupp of Muskegon. She had four children, Daniel (Sue) Neuman of Muskegon, Jeff Neuman of California, Steven (Jan) Coffman of Battle Creek and Beth (Dave) Thomas of Roscommon. She had 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and her grandson, Brian Bennett.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Due to her love for the family pets, memorial donations may be made to Roscommon County Animal Shelter or a charity of her family's choice. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.
