On May 29, 2011, Maxine Hazel (Stevens) Sigafoose attended a reunion with her God and her many friends and relatives she had known and loved who had gone on before her. Maxine, the only child of Ayrs and Hazel (Davis) Stevens and lived all of her life in Clinton County. She married Eugene Sigafoose and they bought a farm in Riley Township and lived there the rest of their lives and also spent nineteen enjoyable winters in Florida, Eugene preceded her in death in 1992. She received her degree from Michigan State University and taught for 27 years. She was a life member of MEA-R and NEA-R. Her many interests included gardening, flowers, cooking, music, nature study, science, writing poetry, her church work and watching her students grow in knowledge and develop characteristics pleasing to society.

Survivors include her daughter, Ada Marie (Bill) Windish, a granddaughter, Angela Renee (Scott) Maddux and their two children and a grandson, Steven Eugene (Elizabeth) Scholl and their five children.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2011, at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, with Rev. Cayle Beagle officiating, burial at Union Home Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday and from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in memory of Maxine to AISAC St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Tennessee Corp., or Youth Haven of Rives Junction, Michigan or The Starr Common Wealth School of Albion. .
