Melenia Spickler

Melenia "Mel" Spickler, age 84, of Owosso, MI passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Fr. Nonatus Lakra will officiate, with burial at St. Paul Cemetery, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday September 17, 2010 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes. A Rosary will be prayed Friday at 7:00 PM.

Melenia was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 24, 1926 the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Szimanovska) Charkut. She resided most of her life in Owosso. Mel married Charles Spickler on March 5, 1977 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Owosso. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Mel worked at Johnson Controls in Owosso for 33 years. She loved to dance and travel to Traverse City and Grand Haven.

She is survived by her husband Charles Spickler, 2 grandchildren; Michelle and John Sandula & Derek Fletcher, 2 great grandchildren; Bailey & Jesse Sandula, sister Nattie Charkut, 2 brothers; Wally Charkut & Edward Charkut. Mel is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mel was preceded in death by her parents, son Daniel Fletcher, 2 brothers; Joseph Charkut & Stanley Charkut, and 3 sisters; Del Charkut, Lottie Bartz & Irene Green.
