Melvin C. Hoisington, age 89, of St. Louis, MI passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Warwick Living Center, Alma, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis MI., with Pastor Shane Raulston officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Interment will be held at Union Cemetery in Winn, MI.

Melvin was born in Charlotte, Michigan on June 19, 1924, the son of Hugh and Anna (Loewe) Hoisington. He graduated from Denby High School in Detroit with the class of 1942. Mel retired from Sunoco Oil; he was a Tanker Driver for 38 years. He later was a school bus driver for 8 years for Montabella Public Schools. Mel was a member of Parkside Assembly of God, St. Louis, MI.

He is survived by his best friend and special companion Mattie Ferguson of St. Louis, MI, 3 daughters; Sharon Ann and Hartley Cole of Meridian, Idaho, Yonda Yulee and Kendall Cechitti of Tonopah, AZ, Violet Ruth Sikkelee of Gladwin, MI, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, 4 stepsons; Duane Gushen, Rolland Gushen, Marvin Sherlock, Ken Sherlock, and stepdaughter Virginia Kimmell. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 wives, infant son Hugh Hoisington, daughter Debra Jean Hoisington, son in law Greg M. Sikkelee, and stepson Dale Gushen.
