Merritt Nye

Merritt D. Nye age 73 of Corunna, Michigan died Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday June 25, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel. Rev.Philip Ozinga will officiate with burial at Ridge Road Cemetery in Brady Township, MI. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 24, 2004 from 2-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Merritt was born on January 27, 1931 in Owosso, MI the son of Charles Eugene & Stella ( Dibean ) Nye. He married Lauretta Kirby on March 3, 1951 in Owosso, MI. He worked as a machinist for Midland Ross & Oliver Machine both of Owosso, MI, he also worked for DBM of Corunna, MI. He enjoyed racing and hunting. He resided most of his life in Owosso & Corunna, MI. Merritt was a past member of the Shiawassee Four Wheelers Club and a past volunteer for the Corunna Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife Laurette Nye of Corunna, MI, son Merritt Alan Nye of Burton, MI, son Gregory & Shirley Nye of Ovid, MI, daughter Jacquelyn Pospisil of Corunna, MI, daughter Cheryl Nye of Owosso, MI, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sister, Mabel & John Cooper of Owosso, MI, Mother-in-law Vera Waneta Kirby of Durand, MI, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, 2 sisters Charlena & Lucille, 1 baby brother, granddaughter Meridith Nye & son-in-law John Pospisil
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
