Michael Leydorf

Michael C. Leydorf, age 67, of Beaverton, MI died Wednesday, December 25th, 2013 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Midland, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Monday, December 30th at 12:00 P.M. , Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck will officiate. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery Harrison, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI.
Mike was born in Owosso, Michigan on November 16, 1946, the son of Elmer John and Maxine Ruth (Barker) Leydorf. He graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1964. He then attended MSU and received his bachelor's degree. He received his master's degree from CMU.
On June 17, 1967 he married Rosemary Saxton in Bannister, MI. Mike's service to his country spanned 23 year, rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel. His final Air Force assignment was Deputy Commander for Operations, 6th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, Eielson AFB, Alaska.
After His retirement he went to work for First of Michigan, then Hilliard Lyons Brokerage Firm in Midland, MI.
He enjoyed flying, fishing, boating, gardening, family and friends. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Midland, MI and a member of the Bannister United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Leydorf of Beaverton, MI; his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kelly Leydorf of Midland, MI., his two grandchildren, Reece and Cole Leydorf, Mother Maxine Leydorf-Tufford, sister-in-law, Kathy Leydorf-Keck and Roger Keck, and many friends and family. Mike was predeceased by his father Elmer, and Brother Jeff Leydorf.
