Michael Pettigrew

Michael "Mike" D. Pettigrew, age 56, of St. Johns, Michigan died Saturday, June 20, 2009 as a result of an auto accident.

Funeral Services will be held at Eureka Christian Congregational Church, Eureka, MI on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Kathy Leydorf and Pastor Doug Jones will officiate. Burial will take place at the Eureka Cemetery, Eureka, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009 from 6-8 P.M. and Sunday, June 28, 2009 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel, St. Johns, MI.

Michael was born in Champaign, Illinois on September 16, 1952, the son of Gene and Betty (Taylor) Pettigrew. He graduated from St. Johns High School with the class of 1970. On December 15, 1972 Mike married Paula J. Gibson in Dewitt, Michigan.
Mike had resided most of his life in St. Johns and was a farmer, He was a member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau, and he served on the state promotion and education committee for Farm Bureau. Mike enjoyed and loved his grandchildren very much.

He is survived by wife Paula Pettigrew of St. Johns, Michigan, 1 daughter Jodi and Michael Numerick of Middleville, Michigan, 2 sons; Kevin and Keri Pettigrew of St. Johns, Michigan, Matthew Pettigrew of St. Johns, Michigan, 6 grandchildren; Justin, Ryan, Autumn, Abbie, Brandon, and Sean, his mother Betty Pettigrew of St. Johns, Michigan, 1 sister Shirley Eldridge and 2 brothers; Robert and Linda Pettigrew, Curtis and Kathy Pettigrew all of St. Johns, Michigan, and many nieces & nephews. Mike's 7th grandchild is soon to be here. He was predeceased by his father Gene, and brother in law Ken Eldridge.
